The high-performing Cadillac CTS-V has a veritable stranglehold on its position in the luxury sedan market. It’s been quite a while since a new competitor has come on to the scene. Enter the Genesis G90, a luxury sedan spun-off from Hyundai. Certainly, the G90 has quite a bit to offer buyers, but it still falls short of what Don Wheaton customers can find with the Cadillac sedan. Car buyers looking at the 2017 CTS-V will be getting a passenger cabin that accurately reflects the precision craftsmanship Cadillac is famous for having. On the other hand, independent reviews have criticized the 2017 G90 for its various plastic elements that don’t quite live up to its luxury-level price tag.
Performance of the 2017 CTS-V
When it comes to evaluating the overall performance of the 2017 Cadillac CTS-V and 2017 Genesis G90, there isn’t much to question. The supercharged, 6.2-liter, V-8 engine is capable of making a blistering 640 horsepower and 630 pound-feet of torque. This is the only engine option available for the 2017 CTS-V. An independent evaluation entity clocked the 2017 CTS-V accelerating from zero to 60 mph in just 4.1 seconds. As for the 2017 Genesis 90, the engine that comes closest to competing with the current CTS-V is a 5.0-liter, V-8 making 420 horsepower and 383 pound-feet of torque. Both cars use an eight-speed transmission and are rear-wheel drive. Even with the glaring disparity in power created by both engines, there is barely a difference in fuel consumption scores.
